Presence, timing, the urge to fix.

About this module
When a child brings a problem to a parent, the instinct to fix it is often immediate, and often premature. This module slows that instinct down, making the case that attunement, simply being fully present with what a child is experiencing, usually has to come before any advice has a chance of actually landing. A fix offered before attunement tends to feel, to the child, like being managed rather than being heard, even when the advice itself is sound.
What you'll explore
Three lanes of knowing
What's understood about how feeling truly heard activates a child's own capacity to think and problem-solve, which premature advice can short-circuit.
A short practice for noticing the urge to fix and choosing full presence instead, at least for the first few minutes of a conversation.
Reflection on a recent conversation with their child, examined for how quickly advice arrived relative to genuine attunement.
Outcome
"I can offer my full presence before I offer a fix, and I can feel the difference it makes."
