About this module

A school's culture is built, the same way a classroom's is.

Everything this teacher has already learned about building belonging and regulation into a single classroom now scales up to the level of a whole school, which develops its culture through deliberate rituals, shared language, and structures just as surely as any individual classroom does. This module teaches culture design directly, giving a teacher concrete tools for building a school-wide culture of wholeness rather than leaving that culture to form by accident.

What you'll explore

Four shifts this module is building toward.

  • How school-wide culture forms through deliberate ritual and structure, the same way classroom culture does.
  • A few concrete rituals and shared-language practices that build a culture of wholeness at the school level.
  • A realistic first step toward one culture-design change at this teacher's own school.
  • What resistance to expect in culture design work, and how it differs from resistance at the classroom level.

Three lanes of knowing

Understood, practiced, and explored.

Lane 1 · Science

How institutional culture forms

What's understood about how deliberate ritual and shared language, more than policy alone, actually build institutional culture.

Lane 2 · Practice

A ritual-design practice

A short, practical exercise designing one ritual or shared-language practice that could build belonging at the school level.

Lane 3 · Meaning-making

What is my school's culture actually teaching?

Reflection on what this school's current, unexamined rituals and language are quietly teaching students and staff.

Outcome

"I have one concrete culture-design change ready to bring to my school."
