About this module

A dysregulated teacher cannot regulate a classroom.

However much a teacher understands about a student's nervous system, none of it transfers into the room reliably if the teacher's own regulation collapses the moment things get difficult, because a classroom reads a teacher's state far faster than it reads their intentions. This module builds specific, practical skill in working with a teacher's own triggers in real time, so presence becomes something available under pressure rather than only in calm moments.

What you'll explore

Five shifts this module is building toward.

  • What specifically triggers this teacher, and the early physical signs that a trigger has fired.
  • A short, usable practice for regaining regulation in the middle of a live classroom moment.
  • The difference between suppressing a reaction and actually regulating it.
  • What becomes possible for a classroom once a teacher can stay present through its hardest minutes.
  • A plan for practicing this regulation skill in lower-stakes moments before it's needed in high-stakes ones.

Three lanes of knowing

Understood, practiced, and explored.

Lane 1 · Science

Co-regulation starts with self-regulation

What's understood about how a teacher's own regulated or dysregulated state spreads through a classroom via co-regulation.

Lane 2 · Practice

A real-time regulation practice

A short, body-based practice for regaining regulation in the middle of a difficult classroom moment, not after it.

Lane 3 · Meaning-making

What actually triggers me, and why?

Reflection on this teacher's own specific triggers, and what personal history they connect back to.

Outcome

"I can find my own regulation again in the middle of a hard classroom moment."
