About this module

Making room for every voice in the family.

A family where only the parents' voices shape decisions teaches a different lesson than one where every member, including the children, has a real seat at the table. This module introduces the practice of regular family meetings as a structure for shared decision-making, where a child's voice carries real weight rather than token acknowledgment.

What you'll explore

Four shifts this module is building toward.

  • What changes in a family when every member has a genuine voice in shared decisions.
  • A simple structure for running a family meeting that actually works.
  • How to give a child's input real weight, without handing over decisions that aren't theirs to make.
  • Practice holding one real family meeting this month, using this structure.

Three lanes of knowing

Understood, practiced, and explored.

Lane 1 · Science

Why genuine voice builds belonging

What's understood about how children who have a real say in family decisions develop a stronger sense of belonging and responsibility.

Lane 2 · Practice

A family meeting structure

A simple, repeatable format for holding a family meeting where every voice gets genuinely heard.

Lane 3 · Meaning-making

Whose voice is actually shaping our decisions?

Reflection on a recent family decision, examined for whether every member's voice actually had a seat at the table.

Outcome

"Every voice in my family has a real seat at the table, mine included."
